Lower Saxony, Astfeld, Juliushütte

The Juliushütte, or Herzog Julius Smelter in English, was a slag locality with many well-developed Pb-Cu-Cl minerals, belonging to steelworks that were active from 1575 to 1967. The slag dumps are no longer accessible, as they were closed in 1968, the area is a nature reserve now. So all the minerals on this page are from old collections, the last of which I managed to obtain in 2024, and the processing of which is still in progress....
