Saxony-Anhalt

All the locations mentioned here were located in the no longer existing Mansfeld Mining Area, and stem from the time that Saxony-Anhalt was part of the former German Democratic Republic. The mining activities stopped in 1990, the area is recreational nowadays. Some time ago I obtained a large collection from there.  Many of the specimens shown here are from that collection. All are analysed, but a fair number of them are labeled with the chemical composition, not with a mineral name - and that is a challenge in itself..
